NATR 115: Natural Ecosystems

This class focuses on ecosystems of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. Students will explore factors that influence ecosystem composition, disturbance-succession cycles, biodiversity, forests, and transformation of habitats. This class may include students from multiple sections.

  1. Discuss ecosystems and the tools used to analyze them.
  2. Compare and contrast the main branches of ecosystem science.
  3. Define ecological energetics and biogeochemistry.
  4. Discuss sustainable natural ecosystems initiatives.
  5. Define and summarize the cycles disturbance succession.
  6. List causes of ecosystem disturbances.
  7. Analyze the interrelationships between humans and natural ecosystems.
