GS 110 : CROSS-CULTURAL COMMUNICATION
This course is designed to facilitate crosscultural communication between domestic and international students. Students with different language and cultural backgrounds will meet in small groups or pairs on a weekly basis to discuss topics of interest and to enhance intercultural, interpersonal, and intrapersonal understanding. In so doing, students will act as conversation and cultural mentors to each other. (E) Prerequisite for international students: IELS 081 or 082 or 083 or permission of instructor.
- Learn about other cultures by meeting on a regular basis with partners with different cultural and linguistic background from their own.
- Learn first-hand how to better communicate with people with different styles of verbal and non-verbal communication.
- Gain a more objective understanding of one's own cultural background and how it shapes individual values and beliefs.
- Actively reflect on how this experience informs cognitive, interpersonal, and intrapersonal development.
