GS 186: Leadership Principles & Theory

Development of leadership skills and experiences through lecture, lab and group activities. Examines characteristics of strong leaders, leaders in history, leadership theory, leading by example, servant leadership and related topics. Course is limited to students serving on the Associated Student Council, or by permission of instructor. This class may include students from multiple sections. (Elective)

  1. Identify historical leaders and evaluate those leaders.
  2. Describe theories of leadership.
  3. Identify best practices and characteristics of leaders.
  4. Evaluate the experience of goal setting.
  5. Apply critical thinking to leadership skills.
  6. Participate in servant leadership.
