EDUC 470: The Teacher as Leader II

Teacher Candidates revisit what it means to be a teacher leader, reflecting on experiences throughout the program and looking to future work as certified teachers. Engagement in further exploration of literature will lead to the creation of a final mission statement. This class may include students from multiple sections.

Prerequisites

Teacher Education BAS Program Admittance; Concurrent enrollment in EDUC 475

  1. Revisit and revise definition of teacher leadership mission statement, considering both instruction and assessment.
  2. Demonstrates proficiency:
    • working with paraprofessionals and peers as a practicing teacher.
    • approaching personal and professional growth, learning, and reflection as a practicing teacher, with a view to your own wellness.
    • of responsibly and responsively embracing Social Emotional Learning.
    • adhering to ethical, professional, and legal standards for teachers in the state of Washington and advocating for students' safety and wellness.
    • of how you will approach being a culturally and trauma informed and responsive teacher across the content areas.
